We were at Maverik today picking out a Redbox movie. The Redbox machine stands next to an object that looks very similar to the item in the picture above. Thus sets the stage for the following conversation with Noah:Noah: Ew! Ethan's playing with a garbage can!
Me: (alarmed at first, and then relieved) That's not a garbage can, Noah. Stop it Ethan.
Noah: Yes, it is too a garbage can!
Me: Are you serious Noah, you really think that's a garbage can?
Noah: Yesss...
Me: (smiling) What if I told you it wasn't a garbage can? What else do you think it might be?
Noah: A bathroom?
Me: Seriously? You think it's a bathroom?
Noah: I guess...
Me: Would you be surprised if I told you it was a telephone?
Noah: It doesn't look like a telephone.
Me: I promise, it really is a telephone.
Noah: Oh.
I guess I've never stopped to think how much phones have changed over the years! As I stopped to think about it I guess pay phones really don't look much like these, do they?I think his next guess about it being a bathroom might have been based on the shape of a urinal but I'm not sure. I sure got a good laugh out of this little conversation though! It reminds me of the time I was teaching a Young Women's lesson and the girls had no idea what a typewriter was! I must be getting old! :)

Too funny!!!
That's funny. I think it's crazy that already there are things that were a part of our lives that are now obsolete to our children. Technology is ever changing.
Okay, I have been really bad about getting back to you. Sorry about that. From so long ago, the quote I had "You are my biggest fan!" did come from That Thing You Do. Sorry about that. Also, good luck with the haircut for Aaron. I found that sometimes giving them a sucker while cutting works wonders! I know there were other things you had said on my blog that I wanted to comment back on, but I have forgotten.
At any rate, that is SO funny! I can't believe he didn't know what a phone booth was. I wonder what he would think of the ones in the UK? And your YW didn't know what a typewriter was? That is amazing!
Kynlei says it's a "telephone thing". She does watch a lot of TV though, she probably learned it from there :)
That is soooo funny! You have the smartest little boys in the world, so that must mean we ARE getting old. I really miss you.....we need to play! Can you believe you've almost been gone a year? Maybe another craft day? I have a fun new mini album for us. Hope your cute family is doing great!
That is too funny, I guess there aren't too many phone booths left around. I was surprised Chandler actually knew what it was when I asked him.
That is the funniest thing I've heard in a long time. Leave it to Noah. Does he still want to get onto T.V.?
